# Record

### [Install the Interactively Chrome Extension](https://interactively.gitbook.io/interactively-docs/getting-started/install-the-chrome-extension)

Our Chrome extension allows you to record interactive demos, record videos, or take screenshots of any website or web app in the Google Chrome browser.

{% hint style="info" %}
You can also [upload media](https://interactively.gitbook.io/interactively-docs/build/edit/upload-media) such as images, videos or PDFs to an Interactively demo.
{% endhint %}

### How do I record?

Click the Interactively Chrome extension to start recording and click it again to stop recording. You can also use the keyboard shortcut <kbd>⌘E</kbd> to start and stop recording.

Interactively captures every click and interaction and automatically stitches them together. Once you finish recording, you can edit your demo.

### When is a video step recorded and when is an image step recorded?

* A [**video step**](https://interactively.gitbook.io/interactively-docs/build/edit/edit-video-steps) is recorded when you scroll, type, drag and drop.
* An [**image step**](https://interactively.gitbook.io/interactively-docs/build/edit/edit-image-steps) is recorded when you click anywhere on a webpage, and a hotspot is placed at the location of your click.

### How do I cancel a recording?

To cancel a recording that's in progress, press the <kbd>Esc</kbd> key. If you don't want to keep a finished recording, you can delete it from your library.

### Can I create a demo manually without using the Chrome extension?

Yes! To create an Interactively demo manually, [upload your images and videos](https://interactively.gitbook.io/interactively-docs/build/edit/upload-media) in the demo editor.

{% hint style="info" %}
Your Interactively demo takes the aspect ratios of the **first slide** in your demo. This means that subsequent steps are resized to match the first slide's dimensions.

For a cohesive and professional demo, ensure that all images and videos have the same dimensions.
{% endhint %}

### How can I find the dimensions of my demo and the media in my library?

To find the dimensions of a specific demo, click 'Insert' in the main edit toolbar to open your [**Media Library**](https://interactively.gitbook.io/interactively-docs/build/edit/upload-media). Under **Current project size** you'll see the dimensions of your demo.

In your **Media Library**, you can find the dimensions of each image and video in the bottom-left corner of the preview.

## Interactively Chrome Extension Settings

### Multi-tab recording

Interactively's Chrome extension supports multi-tab recording, allowing you to capture multiple tabs in your browser within a single recording. This feature is automatically enabled in your settings.

### Resize

Prior to recording, Interactively will automatically resize your screen to an optimal size. Using the optimal size makes it easier to record across different screens and keep the resolution sharp.

### Modify page

Before you start recording, you can modify the content of a webpage by clicking **Modify page** and replacing the existing text with new content. This is helpful when customizing your demo for a specific target audience.

### Video settings

When recording a video, you can enable camera and microphone access. Enable the camera to [add a video bubble overlay](https://interactively.gitbook.io/interactively-docs/edit/recording#camera-recording) to the screen capture, or enable the microphone to [add a voiceover](https://interactively.gitbook.io/interactively-docs/edit/recording#voice-recording) to your video.
